The town of Lubec is situated at the eastern most point of the United States.  The lighthouses at West Quoddy Head and on Campobello, the Canadian island which features F.D. Roosevelt's summer home, are about 10 minutes away.  The Lubec area abounds in glorious nature, so outdoor activities such as hiking, bird, whale and seal watching, sea kayaking, sketching and painting, stargazing, and beachcombing are close at hand.  A golf course and tennis courts are nearby.  Photographers love the beautiful light.  Everyone marvels at the dramatic Bay of Fundy tides.

A wonderful feature of summer life in Lubec is SummerKeys, the music vacation for adults founded by pianist and teacher Bruce Potterton.  Students come from all over the United States and other parts of the world to work on their music.  Every Wednesday night there are free public concerts played by faculty and guest artists.

Some attractions in the Lubec area include:

~ hiking trails both woodland and ocean edge ~ the Quoddy Loop, an international ferry and car trail ~ cool nights ~ the Cottage Garden with its beautiful flowers and artwork ~ lovely fogs ~ the wild blueberry barrens ~ picnicking ~ Cobscook Bay State Park ~ delicious lobster and "chowdah" ~ Moosehorn National Wildlife Reservation ~ downeast July 4th celebrations in Lubec, Eastport, and Cutler ~ art galleries ~ the famous high and low tides of the Bay of Fundy ~ lupines and other wildflowers ~ theater and music performances ~ puffin cruises ~ Machias Blueberry Festival ~ clean air ~ brilliant stars
